Hornist DANIEL GRABOIS is a member of the critically acclaimed Meridian Arts Ensemble, the New York Chamber Ensemble and the Curiously Strong Winds. He has performed frequently throughout New York and on tour with the Orpheus Chamber Orchestra, St. Luke's Chamber Orchestra, Bargemusic, American Ballet Theater, Musicians from Marlboro, Philharmonia Virtuosi and Speculum Musicae. Grabois has also played with the Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center and Chamber Music Society II, the Metropolitan Opera Orchestra, the New York City Opera Orchestra, the American Ballet Theater Orchestra, the Riverside Symphony, the Brooklyn Philharmonic and the New Jersey Symphony. Of his recent premiere of David Rakowski's Locking Horns concerto with Sequitur, Anthony Tommasini of the New York Times wrote, "The horn soloist Daniel Grabois . . . gave an assured and vividly colored performance." His summer activities have featured festival appearances at Marlboro, Bard, Marblehead, June in Buffalo, Norfolk and the Cape May Music Festival. Grabois has also played with many rock and jazz ensembles including Duran Duran. He has recorded for Channel Classics, CRI, Bridge, Delos, Koch and Musical Heritage Society. Grabois received his master's degree from the Manhattan School of Music and his bachelor's degree (summa cum laude) from Yale. His teachers have included David Jolley, Howard Howard, Paul Ingraham and Andre Speyer. Grabois is currently the horn instructor at the Hartt School of Music and at Princeton University.
